PRESTON WITT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore infielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Sunday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
Witt had a monster week, helping Southwestern win its third consecutive conference series with a 7-for-12 hitting performance in conference play against Schreiner, driving in six runs and scoring five with two home runs. For the week, Witt hit .625 (10-for-16) with three home runs, nine RBIs, and seven runs scored for a 1.250 slugging percentage.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Caleb Maly of Texas Lutheran hit .571 for the week and .600 in the three-game conference sweep of the University of St. Thomas. Maly had at least one hit in every game last week, and he had two or more hits in three of the four contests. He was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the series-opener v. UST. He went 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a double in game two of the series. He closed out the conference series with a 1-for-4 performance and an RBI. His on-base percentage for the week was .625 and his slugging percentage was .714. Junior infielder Leo Galvan of St. Thomas went 4-for-10 (.400) with one double, one home run and five RBIs in in the three game series against Texas Lutheran. He also scored two runs. Junior infielder Jack Wisniewski of Trinity led the top-ranked Tiger baseball team to a three-game series sweep of Austin College, extending the team's winning streak to nine games. Wisniewski batted 5-10 (.500) for the week and drove in seven RBI to lead Trinity in boht categories. He began with a 3-4 performance in the series opener on Thursday, driving in four runs in the 9-0 win. The Tiger infielder capped the series by going 2-4 with a triple, two runs, and three RBI.
