Clemente, a sophomore from Laredo, Texas, and Patel, a sophomore from Lewis Center, Ohio, went 2-0 on Friday, taking the 8-5 victory over the top doubles team from Texas Lutheran before moving to the No. 2 line to earn the Pirates' lone doubles point with a same-day 7-5 win against their opponents from No. 16 NAIA Our Lady of the Lake.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Dorian Cudina and senior Zhanlue Kuang of St. Thomas dominated line two doubles for the Celts this past weekend picking up a pair of wins, including 8-4 victories against duos from Dallas and LeTourneau. Graduate student Carson Kirk and senior Jonathan Barragan of Schreiner went 2-0 on the weekend for the Mountaineers, picking up victories at No. 1 doubles against Sul Ross and Texas Lutheran. Senior Andrew Kaelin and junior Aiden Little of Colorado College posted the Tigers' lone doubles win against Division II Colorado Mesa on Saturday. They comfortably defeated William Leschig and Henry Scheck, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. Sophomore Conor Kaczmarczyk and junior Eric Liao of Trinity led the seventh-ranked Tiger men's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep against the University of California-Santa Cruz last weekend, scoring an 8-1 win at #2 doubles for the first point of the match.
