DESTINY MATHEWS OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a senior forward from Palestine, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 2 through Sunday, December 8. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 5)
Mathews recorded her second 35-plus point effort of the season last week, scoring a career-high 38 points on nearly 50 percent shooting in lifting Concordia to a 85-76 road win over LeTourneau last Thursday. Additionally, she grabbed 13 rebounds to secure her second double-double of the season and recorded a season-high six steals in the win. Her 38 points we the most in a single game by an SCAC athlete since Colorado College’s Audrey Bayston scored 39 back on December 18th 2021.

Junior guard Kylie Flippin of McMurry led the War Hawks to a 19-point win over Sul Ross St. last week, pouring in 19 points, dishing out three assists and grabbed two rebounds. It marked her second-straight game scoring 15 plus points. Senior forward Naomi Smith of Ozarks recorded a double-double behind 17 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Eagles to an SCAC win over Centenary on the road last week. In two games, Smith averaged 20.5 points on 50 percent shooting and added 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for Ozarks. Senior guard Kailee Mulkey of Texas Lutheran scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a tough loss at UMHB last week. Senior guard Josie Napoli of Trinity produced her second-straight 20-plus point effort, pouring in 21 for the Tigers and added five rebounds, one assists and one steal in a non-conference road loss at UMHB last week.
