GEORGETOWN, Texas - Head Southwestern University Softball Coach Alexis Lynn has been selected as the Senior Woman Administrator of the Pirate Athletic Department. The senior woman administrator (SWA) is the highest-ranking female involved in the management of an institution's intercollegiate athletics program. The intent of the SWA designation is to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of college sports.
Coach Lynn has been head coach of the Pirate Softball program since 2021, leading the Pirates to the SCAC Conference tournament in each of her three seasons at Southwestern. Under Lynn's leadership, she has overseen 20 All-SCAC Conference selections, including SCAC Newcomer of the Year. In the past two seasons, Lynn has coached 20 women named to the NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete list. Lynn, who has over seven years of collegiate coaching experience, also served as the head coach of fellow SCAC opponent, Schreiner University.
Lynn aspires to help build upon the culture of the Southwestern University Athletic Department while serving as an added voice for the coaches and the student-athletes.
"I'm honored to take on the responsibility of Senior Woman Administrator in our department. I'd like to thank Ken Ralph for trusting me to manage all aspects of this role. My hope is that my representation amongst the senior staff will be able to provide support for our student-athletes and the coaches as we all continue to pursue a championship culture at Southwestern University Athletics," affirms Coach Lynn.
"I am very pleased Coach Lynn has accepted our offer of the SWA designation for our athletic department," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ken Ralph. "Alexis cares deeply about the experiences of our students. She is a vocal advocate for equality and is unafraid to meet challenges head-on. I'm looking forward to working with her as we craft a model athletic department fully committed to diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity."
