CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced Tuesday and seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes were recognized. Full Release
Overall, a total of 1,432 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor.
Southwestern University led the way among SCAC institutions with four Pirates being named to the list. Sophomores Katherine Montgomery, Linsey Garza and Madison Miller were honored for the second consecutive season, while freshman Mikayla Childers made the list in her rookie campaign.
Trinity University was represented by two golfers earning WGCA Scholar All-America honors. First-years Erin Flynn and Kiona Hsiu were honored following their inaugural collegiate season and Texas Lutheran University freshman Audre Garza was tabbed a WGCA Scholar All-American after earning her first varsity letter this spring.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
