MAXWELL MIMS, SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from Friendswood, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Tuesday, February 13 through Sunday, February 18. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Mims led the Pirates to an opening week non-conference series sweep of Sul Ross St., marking the second-straight season Southwestern has opened the year 3-0. He hit a steady .417 (5-for-12), smashing three home runs, driving in six runs and scoring four. Mims finished the week with two walks to post a .500 batting average and slugged an impressive 1.167.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Kyle Bearden of St. Thomas led the Celts at the plate batting .583 (7-for-12) with seven runs scored and two RBI. Sophomore outfielder Carson Livesay of Centenary picked up right where he left off after a sensational rookie season in 2023 as he finished last week a sizzling .409 (9-22) for the Diamond Gents with a pair of home runs, eight RBI, three doubles, five runs scored and a walk. He posted a .417 OBP and slugged .818 with three multi-hit performances which included a 4-hit effort against Rhodes. Senior first baseman Tyler Post of Texas Lutheran finished the week going 3-for-10 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored as the Bulldogs dropped a non-conference series against Texas-Dallas. First-Year outfielder RayShawn Riley of Austin College had a big opening weekend in his collegiate debut, batting .583 in three games at Mary Hardin-Baylor. Riley knocked in four runs, and finished the week with a .615 on-base percentage and a .583 slugging percentage while collecting seven hits in 12 at-bats.
