GREYSON PINTO OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Plano, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 9)
Pinto scored in back-to-back fixtures for the first time in his career last weekend, lifting the Pirates to a pair of critical SCAC road victories as Southwestern fights to qualify for its 14th-straight conference tournament. Pinto scored the lone goal in the Pirates 1-0 win at Centenary on Friday, his second game-winning goal of the season and then followed that performance up on Sunday with an insurance goal a 4-0 win at Ozarks. On the weekend, Pinto finished with four points on two goals and fired three shots on target.
Pinto shares this week's honor with Texas Lutheran senior midfielder Jack Manke.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Louis Catchpole of Austin College had another strong weekend lifting the ‘Roos to a 1-1 record in league play on the road last weekend. Catchpole tallied a goal in both fixtures with one marker in a close 3-2 loss against Concordia and then registering a brace in a 5-3 win over McMurry. He now leads the SCAC with 13 goals on the season. Senior midfielder Teddy Libby of Colorado College scored his first goal of the season in the Tigers’ 5-0 win over Schreiner last Friday and finished the weekend helping CC stay unbeaten in conference play with six total shots, four on target. Junior forward Jonathan De la Torre of Concordia tallied three points last week in helping the Tornados secure six key points in the SCAC table with wins over Austin College and Dallas. De la Torre assisted on the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over the ‘Roos on Friday and then scored in a 6-0 win over Dallas on Sunday. Junior forward Arik Phillips of McMurry scored his second goal of the season last weekend in helping the War Hawks post a 1-1 record in conference play, highlighted by a 2-0 win over Dallas. First-year forward Hani Ahmadie of St. Thomas scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the Celts’ 2-0 win over Schriner on Sunday afternoon. Senior midfielder Louis Instrall of Trinity scored his fifth goal of the season in the Tigers 4-0 win on the road at St. Thomas last Friday night. Instrall played 152 total minutes to help the Tigers stay unbeaten in league play after defeating UST and securing a 1-1 draw at Colorado College.
