SYDNEY WAHL OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Vancouver, British Columbia, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 21 to Sunday, March 27. (SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 8)
Wahl scored a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) victory over Miranda Yuan of University of Chicago at No. 4 singles on Thursday, picking up one of the team's three points against the nation's top-ranked team.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Gigi Jensen of Colorado College went 3-0 at No. 5 singles last week, including wins against a pair of regionally-ranked teams in Pacific (Ore.) and Luther. For the entire trip, she also had wins at #6 vs nationally-ranked Denison and Hope (was nationally ranked at that point), going 5-0 on the spring break trip. First-year Ruth Hill of Trinity collected a trio of quality victories last week in the Tigers' five-straight nationally-ranked matchups, including the clincher against No. 13 Mary Washington. The Abilene, Texas-native collected decisive victories in the No. 30 Gustavus Adolphus and No. 21 Washington-St. Louis matches, allowing no more than two games in any set.
