RAQUEL KURTH OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. (Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release - Week 3)

Kurth had three ground balls and caused three turnovers as the Pirates defeated Calvin, 14-9, on Friday in the team's only game of the week. She chipped in offensively with one goal. For the season, Kurth is tied for second in the league in caused turnovers (five) and tied for sixth in ground balls (six).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Sophie Murphy of Colorado College produced a pair of caused turnovers and two ground balls during Saturday's 19-4 setback against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Washburn Field. Through three games, the senior defender leads the Tigers with five caused turnovers and is tied for first with eight ground balls. Sophomore defender Gabby Dixon of Dallas had a game-high 11 ground balls in Saturday's 19-10 setback to St. Mary (Kan.). The 11 ground balls are the most in a single game by a conference player since Southwestern's Emma Pertuit had 15 against Colorado College on 4/10/21.
