Flanagan clinched the match over 11th-ranked Trinity with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Rafa Candelas Ruiz at the No. 5 line on Friday. He also posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Colorado College's Andrew Kaelin in the Pirates' 7-2 SCAC win on Thursday.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Hao Nguyen of Trinity notched a pair of line one straight-set singles wins for No. 11 Trinity men's tennis last week. He was the first singles match completed to tie things up 2-2 against Southwestern, then he earned the clincher in a 6-3 win over UC-Santa Cruz. Sophomore Lucas Pastor of Colorado College recorded a perfect 4-0 record at the No. 2 singles position, helping the Tigers to a 3-1 team record last week. He opened CC's four-match road trip with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 victory over Steven Tibbets of 19th-ranked Southwestern, then beat Broday Smith of Texas Lutheran, 6-4, 6-0. Pastor's opponent from UT-Dallas, Nathan Qi, retired prior to the start of the third set, then Lucas defeated Tate Nelson of Austin College, 6-3, 6-1. Graduate student Austin Cervantes of Schreiner went 2-1 on the weekend at No. 3 singles, defeating opponents from both Austin College and Dallas. First-year Shu-Lun Chang of Dallas was dominant in both singles and doubles play against TLU this week. He and John-Paul Collins won their doubles match 8-0, before Chang went on to win 6-0, 6-0 at line one of singles play.
