CHRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition from Wednesday, March 30 through Tuesday, April 5. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 7)
He shares this week's award with Richard Polan of Centenary College.
Rodriguez took medalist honors at the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club, shooting a three-round total of 212 (-4) to finish atop the 54-player field. His seven under, second round 65 was the low round of the tournament and helped push his Pirates to the team title.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Richard Polan of Centenary College earned the first individual victory of his career as he fired a 2-under par 214 to help the Gents finish fourth at the 2022 Rhodes Spring Classic at the par-72, 6,987-yard Mirimichi Golf Club. He was the only golfer to finish under par for the tournament as he wound up five shots ahead of the runner-up finisher. First-year Jacob Mason of Trinity collected a three-under 69, tied for the fourth-best single round of the tournament at the West Regional, on Tuesday and finished two-under through 54 holes, tied for the runner-up spot. Junior Chase Maus of Texas Lutheran recorded a two-over par 72 to finish tied for second place in the individual standings at the West Regional with a 54-hole score of two-under par 214. Junior Trey Schneider of Dallas shot rounds of 75-73-71 to finish at 219 (+3) to finished tied for second at the Rhodes Spring Classic. Junior Colby Miller of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the West Regional, finishing in 10th with a three-round total of 223 (+7).
