RAGHAV SHARMA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week from Monday, September 11th through Sunday, September 17th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 3)

Sharma helped lift Southwestern to a 1-0-1 week, knocking off ETBU, 5-0, for the Pirates second shutout of the season and earning a 1-1 draw against Hardin-Simmons. Sharma and the Pirates defense limited opponents to just nine shots on goal over the two fixtures and have now allowed just one opponent to score multiple goals in a single game this year. Additionally, Sharma jumped in to help offensively as well scoring in both contests, including the game-winner in the victory over the Tigers. Sharma the Pirates are now unbeaten (3-0-3) through their first six fixtures for the second time in the last four seasons.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ian Alvarez of St. Thomas stepped up last weekend, helping lock down Division II opponent St. Edwards and limiting them to just two goals in a 2-2 draw to keep the Celts unbeaten on the season. Junior defender Noah Harris of Texas Lutheran was a critical component of the Bulldog backline last week that did not allow a single goal in the run of play and only allowed on goal all weekend (via penalty kick). Harris is a crucial reason why TLU currently ranks top 15 in the nation in goals-against average (0.333).
