LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the All-Region awards Thursday and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had eight total players earn the recognition, including five who earned First Team honors. Complete AVCA Release
Trinity University led all SCAC squads with four honorees, followed by Colorado College with two and Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University each had one athlete earn recognition. The eight total selections to the team mark the second-straight year the SCAC has earned eight honorees, matching the run back in 2016 and 2017 when the league also had eight athletes tabbed in back-to-back years.
Trinity’s Sara Flynn, Emily Ellis and Maddie Fate and Colorado College’s Jenny Jenks and Isabella Lipacis each received first-team nods.
Emma White of Southwestern University, Lexi Morris of Texas Lutheran University and Sarah Williammee of Trinity each earned an honorable mention nod.
Flynn, a senior rightside from Seattle, Wash., was named to the team for the second consecutive year. A two-time All-SCAC First Team selection and 2022 SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, Flynn leads Trinity with 268 kills and is second on the team with a .375 hitting percentage.
Ellis, a senior middle blocker from Georgetown, Texas, is making her second appearance on the region’s top team, earning First Team accolades back in 2019. A two-time All-SCAC First Team selection, Ellis currently leads Trinity with 120 total blocks, a blistering .410 hitting percentage and is third on the squad with 205 kills. Her 120 total blocks are currently eight most in all of Division III.
Fate, a junior middle blocker from New York, NY, is making her debut appearance on the AVCA All-Region team. A 2022 All-SCAC Second Team honoree, Fate is second on the Trinity roster with 110 total blocks, third with a .343 hitting percentage and sixth with 128 kills. Her 110 total blocks are currently tied for 17th in the country.
Jenks, a junior setter from Hermosa Beach, Calif., was named to the team for the second straight season. The back-to-back SCAC Setter-of-the-Year and two-time first-team all-conference selection, Jenks is currently eight in the country with 1,118 total assists and her 10.16 assists per set currently ranks 10th nationally.
Lipacis, a junior outside hitter from Piedmont, Calif., has earned AVCA All-Region honors for the first time in her career. A 2022 First Team All-SCAC selection, Lipacis currently top-25 in the country in both kills per set (3.91 – 25th) and kills (411 – 20th).
Southwestern’s Emma White, a senior outside hitter, earned Honorable Mention All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. A Lucas, Texas native, White earned First Team All-SCAC accolades for a second straight year and finished second in the SCAC averaging 3.20 kills per set and fifth with 320 total kills.
Senior libero, Lexi Morris of TLU was selected to the Honorable Mention All-Region squad for the second year in a row. Morris, the SCAC Backrow Player-of-the-Year for the second consecutive season, led the SCAC and is currently second in the NCAA with 762 total digs. Her 5.52 digs per set also ranks her among the nation’s elite currently sitting at 24th in the country.
Rounding out the SCAC student-athletes on the AVCA All-Region 10 squad is senior rightside Sarah Williammee of Trinity. Williammee, a 2022 All-SCAC Second Team honoree, is currently fifth on Trinity’s team with 168 kills and fourth with a .300 hitting percentage.
