COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Third-seeded Colorado College bounced back after dropping the opening set and advanced to tomorrow's championship match with a 3-1 victory over second-seeded Southwestern Saturday evening at Reid Arena. HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After Southwestern hit .273 and took the first set 25-21, CC held the Pirates to .174 the rest of the way.
  • CC struggled offensively the first two sets, but finished with attack percentages of .405 and .351 in sets three and four, respectively, in pulling away for the victory.
  • Isabella Lipacis had 12 of her match-high 19 kills in the final two sets.

NOTABLES

  • Colorado College advances to the SCAC championship match for the first time since 2020 and the ninth time overall. The Tigers are 6-2 in their previous championship appearances. 
  • Tonight's semifinal match was a rematch from last season's semifinal round where Southwestern defeated Colorado College, 3-2. CC's victory tonight is just its third in nine SCAC tournament games against the Pirates since the two first met in 2008.
  • With CC's victory, it ensures the first-ever SCAC championship final, in the seeding era (1997-present) that the neither the one or two seed will be playing in the match. 
  • Colorado College and Texas Lutheran split their two regular season match, with TLU picking up its first victory over CC in program history on Oct. 7 (3-1) and CC returning the favor with a 3-1 victory over TLU on Oct. 29.

UP NEXT

With the win, Colorado College improves to 21-8 and will square off against fourth-seeded Texas Lutheran (26-9) in tomorrow morning's SCAC championship match. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. MT. Southwestern ends its season with a 16-11 overall record.
