Trinity University, who finished with a perfect 14-0-0 league mark and 42 points, assumed its traditional spot as the tournament's top seed after coming in as the second seed at last year's event. The Tigers have been the top seed 11 times since the conference reinstated a postseason soccer tournament prior to the 2011 season. The eighth-ranked Tigers posted their 13th unblemished SCAC regular season in the last 14 years and 25th in program history. The defending champions of this event, Trinity has won 11 of the last 12 SCAC women's soccer tournaments. The Tigers are ranked eighth in the nation in the most recent USC Coaches Poll and sit atop the NCAA Region 10 rankings.

Texas Lutheran University secured its best regular season conference finish since 2017, posting a 11-3-0 league mark and securing 33 points - both marks good enough for the second seed in this weekend's conference tournament. With Friday's victory 2-0 over Schreiner, the Bulldogs surpassed the previous school record of 10 conference wins, set by the 2004 and 2006 squads as members of the American Southwest Conference. Qualifying for its 10th consecutive SCAC Tournament, Texas Lutheran has advanced to the championship final three times over that stretch, with its last appearance coming in 2017.

Southwestern University completed the regular season with a 9-3-2 league mark and 29 points to settle in at third place in the conference standings. The Pirates, who earned the regular season title last season and the tournament championship in 2019, are making their 11th consecutive post season appearance. The program has made five title game appearances, including the aforementioned championship three years ago. Southwestern dropped a 5-0 decision to Trinity in last year's title game.

Rounding out the field in the 2022 SCAC Tournament is the fourth-seed, Schreiner University, who returns to the postseason after missing out for the first time in eight years last season. The Mountaineers, who finished the regular season with a 5-5-4 conference record for 19 points, will be looking for their first tournament victory since a quarterfinal win at the 2018 championships.

Trinity will serve as host of this year’s event, the third time the tournament has been in San Antonio and first since 2018. This year's championship is scheduled to open on Friday, November 4 at 5 p.m. CT when No. 1 Trinity takes on No. 4 Schreiner in the opening semifinal fixture. The second semifinal is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT between No. 2 Texas Lutheran and No. 3 Southwestern. The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

The seeds for this year's women's tournament are as follows:
1) Trinity (14-0-0; 42 points)
2) Texas Lutheran (11-3-0; 33 points)
3) Southwestern (9-3-2; 29 points)
4) Schreiner (5-5-4; 19 points)

The winner of the SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship, which begins the following weekend.
