JOE JIMENEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN, a junior shortstop from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Sunday, March 22 through Sunday, March 28.
Jimenez hit .500 for the week and drove in seven runs, including five runs in the conference series sweep of Austin College. He scored a run in each of the Bulldogs' four games last week, including three in the 21-3 series-opening victory over the Roos. Jimenez had four doubles during the week and two in Friday's victory. His slugging percentage for the week was .786.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Rafe Chaumette of Trinity led the top-ranked Tiger baseball team to a 4-0 record last week, including a three-game SCAC weekend sweep at St. Thomas. Chaumette had at least two hits in each game, posting a .526 batting average and a .591 on-base percentage from his leadoff position in the lineup. Junior first baseman/outfielder Caleb Edmonds of St. Thomas was 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate against Trinity, with two doubles, three runs scored and seven runs driven in. He also walked six times and stole a base. Sophomore shortstop Jacob Tanner of Southwestern had five hits and three runs in the Pirates' 2-1 series win over Dallas, scoring two runs with four RBIs, hitting .417 with a .533 OBP. He hit .412 for the week (7-17), bringing in six RBIs with three runs scored. Senior utility Tyler Erickson of Centenary charted a 4-for-12 effort with four RBI and a pair of multi-hit games during the weekend's home sweep of Schreiner. For the week, Erickson went 6-for-17 with five RBI and recorded three multi-hit games. Senior first baseman Zach Taylor of Dallas matched an individual high in base hits in the team's three-game series against Southwestern. TIn the team's 17-10 win on Sunday, Taylor went 4-for-4 with a double, drove in two runs and scored twice. He added a pair of RBI in one of the team's setbacks on Saturday.
