LOUIS HART OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week from Monday, September 18th through Sunday, September 24th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 4)
Hart played the full 90 minutes in all three matches for the Bulldogs last week, helping lift TLU to three victories and improving to a program best 9-0-0 to start the season. He anchored a backline that once again did not allow a single goal against the run of play, posting two shutouts and allowing just the one penalty kick in a 2-1 victory over Hardin-Simmons Friday night. Hart and the Bulldogs allowed just 16 shots over the course of three fixtures including just five on target. TLU has now won 11-straight matches dating back to last year, a program record, and has yet to allow goal in the run of play this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore goalkeeper Jasper Broad of Colorado College posted his first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over UC Santa Cruz on Sunday and help lift the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 week, finishing with five total saves. Senior defender Reagan Fortner of Southwestern played the full 90 minutes and anchored a Pirates backline the posted its third shutout this season in a 1-0 win last Friday over Concordia. Senior goalkeeper Cristo Gayoso of St. Thomas helped the Celts post a pair of shutout wins last week in non-conference action. Gayoso played just over 116 minutes over two games and finished with four saves in net for St. Thomas. Senior defender JonConnor Rule of Trinity helped the Tigers post a 1-0-1 record last week, including limiting NCAA Div. I opponent Incarnate Word to just one goal in a 1-1 draw. Rule also chipped in offensively, scoring twice in a 6-1 win over UMHB.
