LEILANI LOPEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first-year runner from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 4)
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ellie Catron of Trinity ran a new personal best in the 1500 at the Victor Lopez Invitational. Her mark of 3:50.44 placed her 14th in the meet and second on the conference list. First-year Arden Neff of Southwestern produced another solid performance with two top-five finishes at the D3 Challenge. She finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.47, breaking the program record time of 26.56 set in 2017. Neff was also placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.42. Senior Anna Wilgenbusch of Dallas battled the mid-afternoon heat to win the 5000 meters at the Dan Veach Invitational. Her winning time of 18:20.94 was nearly two minutes faster than the runner-up. Sophomore Karelann Skinner of St. Thomas set a season personal best by finishing with a time of 2:33.56 seconds in the 800 meters at the Victor Lopez Classic.
