ELIJAH JEFFERSON OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 27 through Sunday, March 5. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1
Jefferson won the 200 at the Trinity Invitational in a Division III-leading time of 21.40. He was a close second (to a D2 sprinter) in the 100 at 10.75 to hold a fourth place position in Division III.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Jonathan Olmsted of Dallas, competing in his first ever collegiate track and field meet, ran a 49.53 in the 400 meters (without starting blocks), beating athletes from D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO schools. He placed fifth out of 44 competitors. Sophomore Brian Armijo of Southwestern, after doubling back from the 1500 in the heat of the day, was the top collegian across all Divisions - finishing second in the 5k running a roughly 22-second personal best of 15:35.41. Sophomore Azariah Anderson of Trinity ran a new personal best in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.44. This mark won the meet and places him third all time in Trinity history. He also ran second leg of the third place 4x100 with a time of 41.7. Junior Bryce McIntyre of St. Thomas took first place in the 400 meters at the Trinity Invitational, posting an outstanding time of 48.86. In the 200 meters he clocked 22.02 - good for sixth place and second overall against Division III runners. First-year Josh Williams of Colorado College won the 200 and 400 meters at the Ed Boitano Invitational. His time of 22.37 in the 200 ranks 10th on the outdoor list and his 400 time of 49.92 ranks sixth on the outdoor list.
