GABE CEBALLOS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman on the men's cross country team from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning December 12.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

This fall, you could find Gabe amidst a young Texas Lutheran pack that improved race by race, eventually placing fifth at the 2022 SCAC Championships.

Off the course, Gabe has quickly ingratiated himself and become a leader in his first semester at TLU, volunteering in numerous different capacities. In his first semester, he participated in Bike MS: Valero Ride, the USATF – Southcentral Junior Olympics XC Meet, Blue Santa Christmas Toy Wrapping, and working the concessions stand at his alma mater, Smithson Valley High School while competing this fall.

When asked about all the different ways he’s been involved in the community at such a young age, Ceballos stated, “Nothing beats the feeling of being appreciated when you put your time and effort into serving others.”

Gabe is constantly working on improving himself as a runner and competitor but as he continues to elevate he has constantly had a passion to elevate, highlight, and serve those in need.
