BAILEY HUDGEONS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior utility from Dripping Springs, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. SCAC Softball Release - Week 5
Hudgeons was phenomenal at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia last week featuring some of the top teams in the country. Hudgeons hit .632, going 12-for-19 with three home runs, four doubles and eight RBI in six games. She now leads the SCAC in batting average, home runs, RBI, total bases, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. Hudgeons, who slugged an outstanding 1.316 with 25 total bases on the week was also named to the NFCA Division-III All-Tournament Team.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Cox of Centenary had a big week for the Ladies as she hit .428 (6-14) in five games with three runs scored, a double, and three walks. Cox had two RBI and stole six bases while only being caught once. She only struck out once in 14 at-bats. Junior designated player Kathryn Dull of Southwestern hit 6-for-10 against Dallas with a solo home run and two RBI, posting a .900 slugging percentage. She also knocked in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the seventh in Southwestern's 4-3 win. First-year infielder Lindsey Gonzalez of St. Thomas finished the series against Schreiner with three RBI, two hits, including one double and stole one base to lead the Celts offensively last weekend. First-year utility Jessica Lloyd of Trinity led the Tigers to their first wins of the season last week, sweeping the SCAC weekend series at Centenary, and going 3-2 overall. Lloyd hit .615 (8-13) for the week, scoring four runs and driving in two more. Against the Ladies over the weekend, she hit a blistering .727 (8-11) over three games. She scored all four of her runs and both RBI came against Centenary and she also had a double among her eight hits overall.
