LEXI MORRIS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior defensive specialist/libero from Victoria, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 10 through Sunday, October 16. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 7)
Morris tallied 63 digs over the weekend, averaging 6.30 per set, as the Bulldogs swept three conference matches at the Group A/B #2 at Austin College. Ranked in the top five in the nation in total digs, Morris is currently 85 digs away from the TLU career mark.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Paige Havel of St. Thomas had an impressive weekend for the Celts posting six solo, and 22 total blocks in three victories. The senior middle blocker had an impressive 2.00 blocks per set, and 40 points on the weekend as St. Thomas went 3-0 and jumped to fifth place in the SCAC standings for the first time in program history. Senior middle blocker Emily Ellis of Trinity led the second-ranked Tigers with eight of 13 team blocks, an average of 2.67 per set, in Trinity's sweep of Susquehanna to conclude the 2022 non-conference schedule. Sophomore defensive specialist Geneva Nedrow of Southwestern averaged 5.33 digs per set (48 total) in three conference wins for the Pirates this past weekend. Nedrow was the model of consistency, posting 17, 16 and 15 digs, respectively, as Southwestern swept through its three matches. Senior defensive specialist/libero Jaycie Proctor of Centenary had another impressive weekend for the Ladies as she totaled 42 digs and nine assists in three matches in conference play. Proctor had a match-high 23 digs on Saturday against Texas Lutheran, marking the 11th time this season she has recorded 20+ digs in a match.
