SEGUIN, Texas -- In an announcement made Friday evening at the conference tournament, Texas Lutheran University's Sydney Ouellette was named the 2024 SCAC Softball Elite 19 award winner.
Ouellette, a senior right-handed pitcher from Corpus Christi, Texas currently holds a cumulative GPA of 4.00 as a major in Business Administration (Master’s in Accounting) and was named First Team All-SCAC on this year's all-conference softball team. She is the first two-time winner of the prestigious SCAC Elite 19 award in conference softball history, previously winning the award as a sophomore in 2022.
Ouellette’s honor is the fourth time a TLU Bulldog has received the accolade in program history. In addition to Ouellette’s honor in 2022, Chassety Raines won in 2021 and DeAnna Hernandez took home the honor in 2020.
Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each of the league's 19 sponsored sports as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
