SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Top-seeded Texas Lutheran University defeated fifth-seeded Trinity University, 7-1, on Saturday night to advance to the program's ninth-consecutive SCAC Softball Championship game after eliminating the host Tigers at the 2023 SCAC Softball Championship. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trinity struck first when the Tigers pushed across the game's first run on a Marina Delaluna solo inside-the-park home run down the right field line in the top of the second inning.
- Texas Lutheran answered right back in the bottom of the second as the Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead. Kylee Jack delivered an RBI single to right field before Caelee Clark tallied a run scoring infield single to second base to make it 2-1. The Bulldogs then took a 3-1 lead after Isabella Rodriguez scored from third after Clark was caught trying to steal second.
- A sac fly in the third extended the Bulldog lead to 4-1. Texas Lutheran then added a two-run triple and an RBI ground out for insurance in the bottom of the fifth as the Bulldogs became just the second team in SCAC history to lose its opening game at the SCAC Softball tournament and then win three games in one day to advance to the championship game. The feat was first accomplished in 2009 by Rhodes.

NOTABLES
- Texas Lutheran became just the second team in SCAC Softball Championship history to lose its opening round game and then win three games on one day to then advance to the tournament final, joining the 2009 Rhodes team that first accomplished the feat.
- With the win, Texas Lutheran advances to its ninth-straight (2014-2019, 2021-2023) SCAC Championship game.
- The Bulldogs improved to 26-2 in SCAC postseason play, including 9-2 against Trinity,
- Texas Lutheran moves to 38-5 on the season.
- Trinity ends the year with a record of 15-28.
