SEGUIN, Texas -- A program-best four Texas Lutheran softball players earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors Tuesday, with Kelly Jurden selected as the Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for one final honor to close her illustrious career at TLU.
Jurden, becomes a rare four-time Academic All-American and the second TLU softball player to win the Team Member of the Year Honor, following Amanda Lochte in 2017. Jurden is the first four-time Academic All-American in program history, earning first team honors in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and second team in 2019. She is joined on the first team by fellow senior Casey Martin along with Ashlyn Strother on the second team and Sydney Ouellette on the third team.
The four award winners are the most ever honored by CoSIDA. The Bulldogs have had at least one Academic All-America honoree in seven of the last eight seasons, now boasting a total of 26 over the program's history.
Since becoming a full NCAA DIII member in 2002-03, TLU has produced 55 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
