HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a pitcher's duel, Texas Lutheran had perhaps the best chance of the game to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth. Madison Johnson singled and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Kelly Jurden then drew a four-pitch walk to put runners on first and second. Centenary's Kaylee Culpepper then was able to induce a 7-4 lineout double play to catch Johnson off second base and end the threat.
- With runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Texas Lutheran was poised to win the game. On a full-count delivery and with both runners on the move, Schreiner third baseman Marisa Hernandez dove to her left to catch a sinking line drive which sent the game to extra innings.
- The Bulldogs began the bottom of the eighth with a leadoff single from Chassety Raines. Raines then stole second. Casey Martin sacrificed Raines over to third a batter later. Hernandez then stepped to the plate and delivered a walk-off fielder's choice to shortstop as Raines was able to sneak in and score the winning run ahead of the throw.
