ALYSSA SIMIEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 19th through Sunday, September 25th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 4)
Simien was outstanding last week, leading the Bulldogs to their first two wins of the season and improving their conference record to 2-1 on the year. She scored twice and added an assist in wins over Dallas and Austin College. In the weekend opener against the Crusaders, 4-0, Simien assisted on the third goal of the contest and then returned Sunday to score twice in a 3-0 win over the ‘Roos. Simien finished with five points on two goals and one assist and currently sits tied for second in the SCAC with four goals and third with nine points.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year midfielder Cassandra Ochoa of Schreiner scored the game-winning goal in the Mountaineers’ 2-0 SCAC win over Centenary last Friday. It marked the first SCAC win for Schreiner since 2019. Sophomore midfielder Maya Ozymy of Trinity scored her first two goals of the season in a 30-second span to put Trinity up 3-0 against Centenary. Ozymy put up five shots on goal (71.4%) this weekend as a reserve. Ozymy's spark off the bench played a major role in the Tigers success.
