LUIS GREEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Monterrey, Mexico, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 11th.
Green scored a goal and had a career-best two assists in the 3-2 conference victory Sunday over Colorado College. He scored the Bulldogs second goal of the match and assisted on the first and the last - the match-winner which came in the final minute of play. Green took four shots against the Tigers and had the one shot on goal. The win secured TLU’s spot in the upcoming SCAC Tournament.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Jaron Petreas of Centenary scored his team-high third goal and added an assist for a total of three points to lift the Gents to a 2-0 victory at home over Schreiner last Saturday. Senior midfielder Miles Montgomery of Colorado College factored in on all three of the Tigers’ goal last weekend, scoring once and added two assists for a total of four points. Senior midfielder Chase Reynolds of Dallas scored his fourth goal of the season in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Southwestern last Saturday. Freshman forward Mofe Ariyo of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal in the Pirates’ 2-1 double-overtime victory last Saturday. It marked the second straight game Ariyo has scored for Southwestern. Freshman forward Ian Alvarez of St. Thomas scored twice including the game-winner in the Celts’ 5-1 victory over Austin College last Saturday. Freshman defender Jack Eubank of Trinity scored twice to help lift the Tigers to a 5-1 victory over Colorado College last Friday.
