Luis Green, Texas Lutheran University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 5)
LUIS GREEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior striker from Monterrey, Mexico, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 28th.

Green tied the Texas Lutheran Men’s Soccer record for goals scored in a match with four goals Saturday in a 5-1 conference road win over Schreiner. Green joined former Bulldogs Sean Morris, Doug Mowen, and Roger Gomez in TLU’s four-goal club. Green’s four goals Saturday against the Mountaineers came on six shots. A two-time All-American and two-time SCAC Offensive Player of the Year, Green scored the match’s first goal in the 16th minute with an assist from Nicolas Medina. Green recorded three goals in the second half. His first second-half goal came in the 48th minute. The goal was unassisted. The third and fourth goals for Green were registered in the 52nd and 86th minutes. Medina assisted on the third goal and the fourth goal. Green is the first SCAC athlete to score four goals in a single game since Southwestern’s Evan Perkins scored four against TLU in 2012. Green’s four goal effort marks just the 27th time in league history an athlete has scored four or more goals in a single game. Oglethorpe’s Zach Atkinson holds the all-time SCAC record for goals in a game with seven, set back in 2004.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Skyler Stark-Ragsdale of Colorado College came off the bench and struck for what proved to be the game-winning goal late in the first half as the CC men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the conference with a 2-0 victory over Centenary last Saturday. Senior midfielder Brady McNamara of Dallas helped lift the Crusaders to a 3-1 road victory over Austin College by scoring a pair of goals including the game-winner. Freshman defender Jacob Piat of Southwestern scored the first goal of his collegiate career late in the second half to secure a 1-1 tie against Trinity in San Antonio. Junior midfielder Fraser Burns of Trinity collected five points in the Tigers’ two SCAC matches last weekend, including two critical goals. The first score kept the Tigers in a position to earn a draw with Southwestern while the second came as the game winner in the 5-2 victory over St. Thomas. Burns also collected an assist in the five-goal second-half melee for Trinity by setting up Philip Duenez's first goal of the season.
