KLARISSA MARTINEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 8th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 6)
Martinez led the Bulldogs offensively last weekend, scoring a goal in both matches to open SCAC play a perfect 2-0 for the second consecutive season. She rang home the game-winner against Centenary on Friday and then added an insurance marker on Sunday in the win over St. Thomas. Martinez is now second in the SCAC in both goals with six and points with 13.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Britney Zapata of Dallas scored twice in a key, 5-0, win over Schreiner last Sunday to lift the Crusaders to their first SCAC win of the season. Junior midfielder Breana Trevino of Southwestern registered a brace, scoring twice in the Pirates 6-0 win over Centenary last Sunday. Sophomore midfielder Erin Heath of Trinity scored a pair of goals to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 start in SCAC play over the weekend. Heath added the final goal of Friday’s 2-0 win over Dallas and then added an insurance goal in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Austin College.
