TOBEY WILLS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Richmond, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, October 11 through Tuesday, October 17. SCAC Golf Release (Week 5)
Wills captured his third top ten finish of the fall season on Tuesday, finishing tied for second place in the 38-player field at the Coastal Collegiate Classic at the Salishan Golf Links in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. The Bulldogs finished in fourth place as a team in the seven-team event.
Wills led the Bulldogs with a four-over final round and earned his runner-up finish with a three-round score of 222 (+9).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Matthew Peesker of Southwestern led the Pirates at the Golfweek October Classic, finishing tied for 53rd place in the 125-player field with a three-round total of 222 (+9). Peesker was one of the more steady players in the field, tying for second with 39 pars over the 54 holes of competition. Junior Jacob Mason of Trinity led the Tigers at the Golfweek October Classic, finishing with a three-day score of 224 (75-74-75) and carding seven total birdies. Junior Rex Soulliere of Dallas led the way for the Crusaders at the UHV Fall Classic, shooting 74, 74, and 78 (226) to finish +10 for the tournament and claim eighth place. Senior Andrew Bennett of Centenary tied for 32nd place after a 6-over par 78 on Tuesday, and shot a three-round total of 239 (+23) at the UHV Fall Classic.
