KACIE HALL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter on the women's volleyball team from Buda, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning November 1.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

By day, you can find the Buda, Texas, native thriving on the volleyball court as she ranks second on the Bulldogs in solo blocks (7) and is in the top five on the team in points (141.5),  total blocks (42), and kills (117).

Off the floor, Hall is active in the community to help others reach the same level of opportunity provided to her Texas Lutheran by participating in Texas Lutheran’s school-wide community service day “Day of the Dogs,” that sees members of the TLU Community make themselves available to the Seguin community, but educating the youth in her free time as a tutor.

“The Day of the Dogs community service projects gave the team and myself a way to get out and serve the Seguin community. Being able to see the smiles and relief that we helped our community members is what makes the rough day, and hard work pay off. I was also involved within the Seguin schools helping to tutor any children that needed it at the elementary level, this also was a way to help inspire me to become an elementary level teacher.”

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hall partnered her passion for kids with her faith to volunteer at “Night to Shine,” hosted by the Tim Tebow Foundation, which gave a prom night experience centered on God’s love for people with special needs.

“It was always a night that I was able to volunteer my time to take a friend with special needs for them to be able to experience a prom night. This experience was always one I looked forward to every year because you can see on their faces that it was a normal night for them to have fun and be celebrated as Prom King or Queen! Being able to give everyone an experience of having a prom is something that hits home for me, and I want to be able to give everyone that joy and excitement to dress up and go dance the night away and for it to be all about them.  I have been able to be a part of the Night to Shine for 3 years and hope that it will be back up and running this year.”

Over the course of four years at Texas Lutheran, Hall has stepped up as a leader and role model for her team and within the Seguin community the Bulldogs serve - making the world a better place along the way.
