TYLER POST OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior first-baseman from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7
Post hit .364 last weekend to lead the Bulldogs to an SCAC series win over 19th-ranked Trinity. He went 4-for-11 over the course of the three games, highlighted by a pair of home runs and five RBI. Post also scored five runs and hit two doubles to finish with an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outfielder Christian Melillo of Southwestern led the Pirates with a .350 batting average, going 7-for-20 during a three-game SCAC weekend series against St. Thomas. Melillo finished with two doubles, seven hits, six RBI and five runs scored. Senior catcher Tyler Pettit of Trinity led the Tigers with a .417 (7-for-17) batting average last week, including a .583 (7-for-12) clip during a three-game SCAC weekend series against Texas Lutheran. Pettit finished with three doubles among his seven hits, collecting four RBI and three runs scored. His best game came in the lone win for the Tigers this week as he went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI in the series finale against TLU. Junior right-handed pitcher Julien DeLeon of Centenary delivered a one-out pinch-hit double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Gents a thrilling 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon over Dallas which clinched the weekend series. DeLeon was hitless in his eight previous at-bats this season but came through in the clutch when needed.
