JOE JIMENEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior shortstop from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Saturday, March 7 through Sunday, March 13. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 5

Jimenez’s career-year continued with a monster week hitting six home runs and tallying 19 RBI on a blistering .647 average, going 11-for-17 at the plate as the Bulldogs posted a perfect 4-0. He also scored 11 runs, walked three times, and slugged a remarkable 1.824 with a .714 on-base percentage. Jimenez is now among the national leaders in home runs and RBI and leads the SCAC with eight and 28 respectively. On Saturday he matched an SCAC and program record with three home runs in a win over ETBU. It marked the 13th time in SCAC history a player has smashed three home runs in a single game.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior catcher Ben Bridges of Centenary continued his hot hitting last Wednesday in a 17-7 blowout win at home over Millsaps as he finished 3-for-5 with a game-high four RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. He blasted a mammoth three-run home run into the parking lot beyond the left-center field wall in the bottom of the eighth for the final three runs of the game after a two-RBI single in the sixth that gave Centenary a 7-1 lead. Bridges now has four multi-hit performances in his last seven games and is hitting a sizzling 15-30 (.500) over those last seven games with 16 RBI, five doubles, five walks, nine runs scored, and a home run. Junior infielder Trent Raschke of Southwestern hit .563 (9-for-16) with three doubles, six RBI, and four runs scored last week, as the Pirates posted a 3-1 record. Rashke posted a .750 slugging percentage for the week, and a career-high four hits in Southwestern's 10-5 win over Hardin-Simmons. Sophomore catcher Tristan Pitkin of St. Thomas went 6-for-14 last week with a double, triple, and five RBI. He showed he was a threat at Belhaven with a monster game two going 4-for-5 at the plate. Junior utility player Ezra Gore of Trinity led the Tigers to a win in their only contest last week, defeating DeSales, 12-2, last Wednesday. Gore went 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. His two-RBI double in the third capped an eight-run inning that put the Tigers in front for good. Gore is now the team leader with 13 RBI this season, as well as coming in second among his teammates in both average (.348) and runs scored (11).
