Alyssa Simien, Texas Lutheran University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 9)

ALYSSA SIMIEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 9)

Simien exploded over the weekend registering a pair of hat tricks and adding two assists finishing with seven points in back-to-back wins over Ozarks on Friday on the road and at home against Centenary on Sunday. She finished with 14 total points on six goals and two assists. It marked the second and third time in her career she has recorded a hat trick, as she has now vaulted to the top of the SCAC scoring race, sitting atop the league in both goals (12) and points (31). Simien’s efforts lifted TLU to a pair of key league wins as the Bulldogs continue to battle for a spot in the SCAC Tournament the second weekend of November.  
 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Kallie Krenz of Concordia tallied two goals and added an assist to propel the Tornados to a perfect 2-0 weekend with wins over Austin College and Dallas. Krenz is now tied for sixth in the SCAC this year with six goals on the season. First-year forward Laila Brown of McMurry scored her fourth goal of the season to help lift the War Hawks to a 3-2 win over Dallas last Friday night at home. Senior forward Taliana Schmidt of Ozarks scored both of the Eagles goals last weekend. Schmidt  is now tied for third in the SCAC with seven goals on the season. First-year forward Sarada Farneti of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to a 3-2 victory at St. Thomas on Sunday, scoring twice, including the game-winner.  First-year forward Lindsey Gomez of Southwestern scored twice, including the game-winner in the Pirates 3-0 road win at Centenary last Friday. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Pugne of St. Thomas scored her third goal of the season in a tough 3-1 loss to Schreiner at home on Sunday. Sophomore midfielder Madisyn Barganski of Trinity registered a brace, scoring twice, including the game-winner to lift Trinity to a 3-0 home win over Schreiner last Tuesday. Barganski is now tied for third in the SCAC with seven goals on the season.
