TROY TOMASELLI OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defensive back from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 26. SCAC Football Release (Week 8)
Tomaselli put the game away for the Bulldogs in Saturday's 28-6 homecoming victory as his 87-yard pick six at the end of the third quarter squashed a McMurry drive and extended TLU's lead to 28-3 in the battle of the league's top two teams. With the interception, Tomaselli moved into the top ten in TLU's D3 history in single-season interceptions with five through this season's first seven games. He also had four tackles in Saturday's game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defensive lineman Kris Mesloh of Centenary recorded a team-leading 10 tackles for the Gents on Saturday in their 41-21 Homecoming win over Austin College. Mesloh finished with five solo tackles and five assisted stops and added one sack and two tackles for loss. The Gents' defense, led by Mesloh, intercepted a season-high four passes and their four sacks are their second-most in a game this season. Centenary finished with six tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
