Emily Holland, McMurry University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 8)

EMILY HOLLAND OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Mansfield, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 14th through Sunday, October 20th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 8)

Holland lifted McMurry to a pair of key SCAC wins last weekend, securing six points in the league table, vaulting the War Hawks into a tie for third place going into the final two weeks of the regular season. On Friday, Holland scored the game-winning goal in McMurry’s 4-1 win at Ozarks and then returned on Sunday to record a brace, including her second game-winning goal of the weekend in a 3-0 win at Centenary. Holland finished the week with three goals and now has nine on the year to lead the SCAC. Her two goal effort against the Ladies was the third multigoal performance of the season for Holland and pushed her season points total to 21, currently best in the SCAC.  
 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year forward Jetta Broquard of Austin College continued her outstanding first collegiate season as the 'Roos went 1-1 last week, topping Schreiner 2-0 before narrowly losing to Trinity 2-1. Broquard made an impact in both games, scoring a goal against the Mountaineers and assisting on the team's goal against the Tigers. First-year forward Lorian Lopez of Concordia scored in back-to-back fixtures last week, lifting the Tornados to a pair of wins over Centenary and Ozarks on the road. Lopez has now scored three goals on the season with all three coming in the last six matches. First-year midfielder Kylee Bush of Schreiner scored her first career goal, the game-winner in the Mountaineers, 1-0 win over Dallas on the road on Sunday for the program’s first conference win of the season.  Senior forward Meredith Lannan of Southwestern scored her third goal in the last six fixtures and second game-winning goal of the season in the Pirates, 4-0 win over St. Thomas on Sunday at home to lift SU to a 5-1 record in league play. Junior forward Callie Brame of Texas Lutheran rang home her first game-winning goal of the season and her second goal of the year in the Bulldogs 1-0 win over St. Thomas at home last Friday. Senior forward Michaela Bosco of Trinity was a crucial piece to the Tiger offense last week in securing two SCAC wins on the road at Dallas and at Austin College. Against Dallas, Bosco scored the opening, game winning goal just 20 minutes in. Then, five minutes later Bosco found her teammate for an assist. Against Austin College, Bosco had the assist on the opening goal of the game. Michaela leads the SCAC in assists (11) and is fourth in total points (15).
