MADDIE OBERHOLTZER OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Canyon Lake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 7th through Sunday, October 13th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 7)

Oberholtzer put together a record performance last week in helping Concordia post a 1-1 record in conference play and securing four key points in the league table. In the Tornados’ 5-1 win over St. Thomas, Oberholtzer scored five goals and added an assist for a program record nine points. Her four goals ties a school record and marks the first time since 2011 a Tornado has recorded four goals in single contest. She is the first SCAC athlete to score four goals since former SCAC member Johnson & Wales’ Natasha Martin achieved the mark in September of 2019 and her nine points are a first since Trinity’s Chelsea Cole recorded nine back in October of 2018. On the season Oberholtzer now sits tied for fourth in the SCAC in both goals (5) and points (12).  
 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year forward Laney Lambert of Austin College helped lift the ‘Roos to a perfect 2-0 week, securing wins over Centenary at home and on the road at Ozarks. In the win over the Ladies, Lambert scored her first career goal and added her first career assist in the 3-0 win.  Junior forward Nevaeh Coronado of Dallas scored in both fixtures for the Crusaders last week in picking up four key points in the league table. On Friday, Coronado scored in a 2-2 tie against Ozarks and then came back and scored again on Sunday in a 3-0 win over Centenary. Senior forward Emily Holland of McMurry registered a pair of assists in the War Hawks 2-0 win over St. Thomas last Friday night. Holland now has 15 points on the year (6G, 3A) to sit tied for second across the SCAC. Senior forward Taliana Schmidt of Ozarks was outstanding last week, racking up six points on two goals and two assists. In a 2-2 draw against Dallas on the road, she scored and goal and added an assist and then at home on Sunday against Austin College she added a goal and an assist in a tight 3-2 loss. Senior midfielder Cathryn Tavares of Schreiner made a pair of starts and played 171 of the 180 minutes of two fixtures, pushing the offensive pace for the Mountaineers in a pair of tough league losses. Sophomore forward Valerie Vazquez of St. Thomas scored twice last week for the Celts, including one in a 3-0 win over Ozarks last Monday. Senior forward Alyssa Simien of Texas Lutheran scored the game-winning goal and added two assists to finish with four points in the Bulldogs, 4-0 win over Schreiner on Sunday. Senior forward Michaela Bosco of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of key SCAC wins last week, knocking off Texas Lutheran and Southwestern. Bosco was involved in all but two of the seven Trinity goals during the two matches, totaling six points, with a goal and an assist in the win over the Bulldogs and adding three more assists in the win over the Pirates. She leads the SCAC in assists (9) and is sixth in total points (11).
