Colorado College 12th; Trinity 14th in Latest AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Colorado College (33-4, 12-2) falls back one spot to No. 12, while Trinity (Texas) University (34-6, 13-1) holds at the No. 14 position in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 poll.

With the three-set triumph over Texas Lutheran in last Saturday’s third-place match, the Tigers tied the 2011 squad for the fourth-most victories in a single season with 33. Colorado College earned its 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship and will play Maryville College in the opening round on Friday, Nov. 15, at Emory University in Atlanta. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

The Colorado College Tigers are making their 23rd overall appearance in the national tournament. Colorado College, which advanced to the Elite 8 in 2009, owns an all-time record of 12-22, including an 8-15 mark under head coach Rick Swan. 

Trinity clinched the SCAC Tournament Championship with a 3-2 comeback win over Southwestern University on Saturday night.  The Tigers won the SCAC title for the first time since 2008, marking the program’s 16th overall conference crown since 1992. 

Trinity also defeated Centenary 3-0 in the opening round, and survived a tough 3-2 semifinal against Texas Lutheran.  Saturday’s win was the 800th career victory for Head Coach Julie Jenkins.

The conference championship earned Trinity an automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs, and the Tigers will host the San Antonio, Texas, Regional November 15-17.  Trinity takes on UC-Santa Cruz in the opening round of play, at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.  The regional final is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
