MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Texas Lutheran
University senior receiver Cameron Peavy and senior linebacker
Bradley Snowden were named to the D3football.com 2013
All-South Region Second Team while Austin College junior tight
end Kyle Crawford was named to the Third Team on Monday
evening.
The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports
information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen
from 257 nominations by Division III member schools. A total
of 75 players were chosen to the All-South Region teams.
Peavy, a 6-0 and 202-pound receiver from Houston, Texas, was a
First Team All-SCAC honors in 2013. Peavy set new school
records for single-season receiving TDs (13), single-season
receptions (72), and single-season receiving yards
(1,089).
Entering the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III playoffs,
Peavy remains among the national leaders in several receiving
statistical categories. He is sixth in receiving yards per
game (121.0), eighth in receiving TDs (13), 11th in receptions
per game (8.0), 18th in total receiving yards (1,089), and
43rd in scoring per game (8.7).
Peavy went over the 100-yard receiving mark six times in 2013 and
tied his school mark for single-game TD receptions (4). He was
two yards shy of tying his school-record single-game receiving
mark after a 216-yard performance this season against East
Texas Baptist.
Peavy ended his Bulldog career second in the TLU DIII-era rankings
for career receiving yards (2,257), career TD receptions (22),
career yards per catch (15.8), and career yards receiving per
game (68.4). He is third in the DIII list for total catches
(143).
Snowden, a 5-11, 215-pound linebacker from Houston, Texas, was
named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive
Player of the Year. He was the field general of the Texas
Lutheran defense, recording 65 total tackles (second on team;
sixth in SCAC) with 7.0 tackles for loss of 34 yards (second
on team; tied for ninth in SCAC).
A team captain and a three-year starter, Snowden also had 2.5
sacks for 22 yards, two fumble recoveries, three pass breakups
and two QB hurries. He was as durable as he was consistent,
never missing a game in his 39-game career, which included 29
consecutive starts.
Snowden, a 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee and a SCAC All-Sportsmanship Football Team honoree, finished his Bulldog career with the fourth-most total tackles in TLU's DIII era. He recorded 240 total tackles and added 20.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries (third on the DIII era list).
Crawford, a 6-3, 230-pound junior tight end from Rockwall Texas, was a First Team All-SCAC selection in 2013. He led the 'Roos with 30 receptions for 390 yards, averaging 13.0 yards-per-catch and hauling in four touchdown passes with a long of 53 yards in eight games this season. His total yards and yard per games led all tight ends in the SCAC this season.
Crawford was also a part of an offensive line that produced one of the most potent ground attacks in the SCAC and the top two running backs in the SCAC, Noah Jesko and James Nwankpah. The 'Roos led the SCAC with 1,869 yards on the ground with 876 coming from Murphy and 731 coming from Nwankpah.
Austin College finished the season with a 5-5 record including four straight victories and their first win over Trinity since 1993 to cap a great turn around season.
