SKILLMAN, N.J. – With her strong national tournament showings and overall play in the fall and spring, Texas Lutheran sophomore tennis player Sofia Vega claimed her second Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honor and received a final national ranking of No. 10 in NCAA Division III.

Vega met four of the five criteria for ITA All-America honors for singles play this season. She was a top-eight seed at the NCAA Division III Women's Singles Championship, finished in the top 20 in the final ITA rankings, won a USTA/ITA Fall Regional Tournament, and won a first-round match at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships.

Vega, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, concluded her 2013-14 campaign with an overall singles record of 27-4, counting fall and spring matches.

Vega was the No. 7 seed at the NCAA Division III Women's Singles Championship. She lost in the first round of the national tournament to fellow All-American Ria Gerger of Middlebury (Vt.). Gerger finished the year with a No. 8 national ranking after advancing to the national quarterfinals for a second straight season.

Vega went 18-1 in the spring season. Her No. 10 ranking is the highest final national ranking for any TLU tennis player in NCAA Division III.

In addition to the No. 10 national ranking, Vega finished the year as the top-ranked women's singles player in the ITA's West Region for NCAA Division III.
