Men's Lacrosse Recap (Week 2) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern is off to the best start in their program's five year history as they thrased Millsaps 15-8. The Pirates have used outstanding defense and timely offense to get off to their hot start going 3-0 over SAA schools in the process. Centenary also go their season started this past weekend.

 

 

 

 

AROUND THE SCAC 

Centenary fell in its first two matches to open the 2014 season. The Gents locked in on two goals in the home opening loss to Millsaps and totaled 22 shots in the two outings. Centenary scooped up 69 groundballs over the weekend and were 43.9 percent on faceoffs. Garrett Wick and Demri Robinson scored the two Gents’ goals with Donovan Stone logging the only assist on the weekend. Bastien Hay and Wick split time in between the pipes with each garnering a loss. Wick tallied 14 saves for the weekend while Hay tallied six for the Maroon and White. Centenary returns to action on Sunday, March 2 at Rhodes before opening a five-game homestand on March 10 against Illinois Wesleyan.


Colorado College was idle this past weekend. They return to acton on Friday, February 28th as they take on Southwestern University in their first conference game. The matchup will take place in Dallas, Texas at Southern Methodist University. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m.


Southwestern is off to their best start ever after a 15-8 win over Millsaps College on Friday night and remain unbeaten at 3-0 on the season. Millsaps scored early but Southwestern responded and the game remained tied at the end of the first quarter. A huge second quarter offensively gave SU a 11-6 lead at halftime and the Pirate defense held strong in the second half, allowing only two goals, while the offense continued to punch goals home to arrive at the 15-8 final. The Pirates put their unbeaten streak on the line on Friday as they head to Dallas to face Colorado College in the Patriot Cup at 6 p.m.
