Trinity's Kitzinger Named SCAC Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity University senior guard Robert Kitzinger has been selected as SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts this past weekend.

 

 

 

 

 



SCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of December 2nd – December 8th

ROBERT KITZINGER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from Carmel, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 2nd through Sunday, December 8th.

Kitzinger led the Tigers to a 2-1 record last week, opening SCAC play with a win over Southwestern, then splitting weekend games in Chicago, Illinois.

Kitzinger averaged 17.0 points/game and 5.7 rebounds/game over the weekend, hitting 44.4% (16-36) from the field and 83.3% (15-18) from the foul line for the weekend.

Against Southwestern, Kitzinger scored a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards to lead the Tigers to a 55-47 win.  He connected on 7-13 from the field in the game.  

In Friday's win over Albion, Kitzinger hit a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining to ice a 70-67 victory.   He finished his week with 19 points and five rebounds in the loss to Chicago.

For the season, Kitzinger leads Trinity with 15.8 points/game, and is shooting 37.4% (43-115) from the field.  He also leads the team with 19 three-pointers made (19-59, 32.2%) and is averaging 4.9 rebounds/game this year. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Jonathan Blount of Centenary led the Gents with 16 points and two steals, shot 50-percent from the field (5-for-10) and from behind the arc (3-for-6), and was 75-percent from the charity stripe in the Gents' lone contest of the week. Junior forward Chris Lesnansky of Colorado College recorded his sixth career double-double with game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Colorado College to a 71-56 victory over Johnson & Wales University last Wednesday. Junior forward Aaron Wyatt of Dallas averaged 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to lead the Crusaders to a 1-1 weekend including a four point win over Millsaps where he score 17 points. Senior guard Michael Cantu of Southwestern scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against Trinity, leading Southwestern in both categories. He added in one steal, two assists. Junior guard Garrett Wilkins of Texas Lutheran was a big reason for the win after the junior guard poured in a game-high 25 points. He was efficient all night, shooting 11-of-15 from the field and making both his free throw attempts to pace the Bulldogs. Austin College and Schreiner were idle this past week.
