Centenary's Atwell and Coker Named SCAC Women's Soccer Players-of-the-Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary sophomore midfielder Amanda Atwell and freshman goalkeeper Erica Coker have been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week for Week Two of the SCAC Soccer season.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 3 – September 9

 

AMANDA ATWELL OF CENTNARY COLLEGE, a sophomore midfielder from Fort Worth, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 3 through Sunday, September 8.

Atwell scored two of the Ladies four goals over the week, including the game-winner against Louisiana College.

Atwell’s goal against LC secured the first win of the season for the Maroon and White. Her goal against Wiley provided insurance in a 3-0 blanking of the Wildcats. Atwell took nine shots on the week, including five on goal (.556).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Sophomore midfielder Cami Mavelian of Austin scored two goals, including a game winner, and had three assists. Sophomore forward Rebecca Brunter of Dallas took four shots, two on goal, and scored a goal during this weekend’s game. Senior midfield/defender Lindsay Jakszta of  Southwestern scored three points with one assist and one goal against Howard Payne University. Sophomore midfielder Sioned Kirkpatrick of Texas Lutheran tallied one shot and scored a hat trick over the week. Freshman Endaisia Love of Trinity scored a tying goal and had an assist over the weekend. Schreiner did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week.

 

 
 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 3 – September 9

 

ERICA COKER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a freshman goalkeeper from Frisco, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 3 through Sunday, September 8.

Coker continues to shine in net garnering both wins in goal for Centenary. Coker recorded six saves in both shutouts (solo and combined).

On the season, Coker has tallied 16 saves en route to an 89.5-save percentage.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior defender Emily Rogers of Dallas was a key defensive player in a 2-1 game and scored the game winning goal against Concordia University. Junior goalkeeper Katherine Rodgers of Southwestern was huge off the bench by allowing only one goal in 87 minutes of action. Freshman goalkeeper Erin Rose of Texas Lutheran made eight saves and notched her first shutout over this weekend’s games. Junior Kirby Peddicord of Trinity assisted in holding Chapman to just five total shots in the shutout victory, and held Claremont to just 10 shots in Friday night’s 1-1 draw. Austin College and Schreiner University did not nominate anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
