Colorado College 11th; Trinity Takes 14th in Latest AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.Colorado College (30-3, 12-2) leaps up one place to No. 11, while Trinity (Texas) University (31-6, 13-1) moves up one position to No. 14 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 poll. 

Colorado College added another impressive accomplishment to its resume with a 25-13, 25-23, 25-15 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Friday night. The Tigers improved to 30-3 and became the sixth squad in program history to record 30 wins in a single season. They also are the fourth team to reach the milestone during head coach Rick Swan's 16-year tenure.

The Colorado College Tigers held the Wildcats to a minus .022 hitting percentage, marking the fifth time an opponent finished in the red this season. Colorado College plays host to CSU-Pueblo on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. MT in the final match of the regular season.

Colorado College earned the No. 2 seed in the SCAC Volleyball Tournament hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. The Colorado College Tigers will play against No. 7 University of Dallas in the first round of matches on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The winner will take on either No. 3 Southwestern or No. 6 Schreiner at 7 p.m. that night.

Trinity finished off the regular season with a 2-2 record at the Emory Invitational over the weekend, sweeping Cortland State and Berry, but falling 3-1 against ninth-ranked Juniata, and 3-2 to sixth-ranked Emory. The Tigers fall to 31-6 on the season, and the loss to Juniata snapped a 10-match winning streak.  Trinity entered the weekend having won 20 of its previous 21 matches.

Trinity will be the top seed at next weekend's SCAC Tournament, and will open play against No. 8 Centenary at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning.  The winner will face either No. 4 Texas Lutheran or No. 5 Austin College at 4:30 p.m. later that afternoon.  The SCAC Championship match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9.
