Trinity's Love; Southwestern's Escajeda Named SCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity's Endaisia Love and Southwestern's Mariah Escajeda were named SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week after a pair of huge performances to clinch their team's seedings in the SCAC Tournament slated for next weekend.

 

 





SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 21st – October 27th

ENDAISIA LOVE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman forward from San Antonio, Texas has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. 

Love led the Tigers to a pair of SCAC road wins over the weekend, defeating both Texas Lutheran and Schreiner. She scored five goals and an assist to pace the Tiger offensive attack, netting the game-winning goal in both contests.  

With Trinity locked in a scoreless tie at halftime against TLU, Love came out firing in the second half, scoring four goals to tie the school's single-game record, and propel the Tigers to victory. She is just the fifth player in Trinity history to score four goals in a game, and is the first since 2003.  

For the season, Love now has nine goals and three assists in her 15 games played, moving into fifth on the team in goals scored.  The two game-winners this weekend were her first of the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Lauren Scott of Austin College scored her eighth goal of the season to give the 'Roos a 2-1 victory over Dallas in the team's only game of the week. Sophomore midfielder Laurie Priftis of Centenary College scored the only goal in the Ladies 1-0 win over the University of Dallas. Senior midfielder/defender Lindsay Jakszta of Southwestern recorded one goal and one assist this weekend. Dallas, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 21st – October 27th

MARIAH ESCAJEDA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman goalkeeper from Boerne, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. 

Escajeda recorded her third and fourth shutouts this season with a pair of shutouts over the weekend. She recorded eight saves and allowed no goals in 180 minutes of action. Helping the Pirates set a new SU record for most conference wins in a season.

For the season, Escajeda is leading the SCAC in shutouts per game with five shutouts for a percentage of .33. She is second in the SCAC in saves percentage with a total of 60 saves and a percentage of .822. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goalkeeper Erica Coker of Centenary recorded four saves and earned her fourth win of the season pitching her third shutout of the season. Senior defender Emily Rogers of Dallas had one shot and one game-winning goal as a substitute.  Junior midfielder Kirby Peddicord of Trinity led the Tiger's defense to a pair of SCAC shutouts on the road this weekend, blanking both Texas Lutheran and Schreiner. Peddicord and the Tiger defense allowed just one shot to each team, shutting down the opposition completely. Austin College, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone.
