Men's Lacrosse Recap (Week 8) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern University has set a school record for most wins in a season, picking up their eighth and ninth wins in dominating fashion,  blowing out Franciscan and Capital on the road. Colorado College also had a good weekend, defeating Division II school Adams State at home. Centenary will battle Colorado College this week in the final SCAC regular season matchup of the season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AROUND THE SCAC 

Centenary was idle this past weekend. They wll return to action on Saturday as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. conference play against Colorado College. It is the Gents last chance to try and earn a spot in the SCAC Championship later on this month.

Senior midfielder Jack Kreitler struck for a career-high five goals as Colorado College overcame a 3-0 first-half deficit to defeat Adams State University, 10-6, on Wednesday night at Washburn Field. The Tigers improved to 7-4 with their fourth consecutive victory and remained perfect at home with a 5-0 mark. It took CC 27:11 to score twice during the first half, but only 5:13 to score four times during the opening minutes the third quarter. Senior attackman Tyler Allen and Kreitler scored 12 seconds apart to give Colorado College its first lead 36 seconds into the second half. Junior midfielder Dylan Davie's laser from the top left made the score 5-3 just 2:39 into the third frame, and then younger brother Austin Davie picked up a loose ball along the left sideline and dished to freshman attackman Jack McCormick, who scored with a shot from beside the left post. Kreitler struck two more times later in the third quarter to extend the Tigers' lead to five with 15 minutes to play. Sophomore goaltender Chase Murphy made four of his 11 saves during the third stanza, including a pair while playing shorthanded, while stopping double-digit shots for the fifth time this season. CC is idle until Saturday, April 12, when it plays host to Centenary at noon.

Southwestern set a new record for most wins in a season this week, winning two games on the road to improve to 9-4 on the year. SU opened the weekend at Franciscan on Friday night and dominated the game from beginning to end, winning 16-4. It was much of same on Sunday as SU unloaded on Capital to win 16-2. The Pirates have the week off before returning to SCAC action on April 19th to face Centenary.
