LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has added to its office staff for the 2013-14 academic year with the appointment of Krista Billingsley as the league’s Sports Information Assistant.
“We are honored that Krista contacted the SCAC offices to
assist in the completion of her master’s program,” said
Assistant Commissioner James Hill. “Krista will be a great
asset to our office and will help us in our continued pursuit of
conference excellence.”
A former SCAC student-athlete, Billingsley was most recently a
graduate assistant in the Exercise and Sport Science department at
Eastern Kentucky University, a NCAA Division I institution located
in Richmond, Kentucky, where she will earn her master’s
degree in Sports Administration in December. During her time as a
graduate student, she was honored as the Most Outstanding Graduate
Student in her department.
Prior to her one year at EKU, Billingsley worked as the women’s basketball assistant coach at her alma mater and former SCAC member Hendrix College for three seasons. During her time as the assistant coach, the Warriors won two consecutive SCAC West Division Titles and advanced to its first SCAC Championship Title game in program history.
"I am honored and excited by this great opportunity given to me
to work with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
staff,” said Billingsley. “I really enjoyed my time
competing in the SCAC as a player and as a coach and I look forward
to coming back and assisting in the SCAC’s continued
excellence in Division III athletics.”
As a student-athlete at Hendrix, Billingsley was a three-year
letter winner for the Warriors’ women’s basketball
program. Billingsley was ranked 7th in the SCAC with 81 assists as
a sophomore and 12th in the SCAC with 69 assists as a junior. She
helped lead the Warriors into the SCAC Championship Tournament for
three straight years.
“We take great pride in our student-athletes – both current and past,” Hill added. “We always want to lend a helping hand to those who make this conference what it is and what it stands for.”
