Dallas' Wyatt Named SCAC Player of the Week for the Second Time

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - University of Dallas junior forward Aaron Wyatt  has been selected as SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season for his efforts this past weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of December 9th – December 15th

AARON WYATT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior forward from Frisco, Texas., has been selected the SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 9th through Sunday, December 15th.

Wyatt led the Crusaders to a 20 point win on the road over Southwestern Adventist as the University of Dallas improved to 5-2 on the season.

Wyatt was dominant in the win, scoring 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting and adding 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He earned a double-double during the first weekend of 2013-14 where he was also named SCAC Player of the Week.

Wyatt was also 6-for-7 for the charity stripe and added three assists, two steals, and a block. 

Wyatt has stepped up in his third year, averaging 13.7 points per game (11th in the SCAC) on 52.5% shooting (sixth in the SCAC). He leads the SCAC in rebound at 9.3 boards per game and is shooting 76% from the free throw line. He is also fifth in the SCAC in blocks (0.9 per game).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Jonathan Blount of Centenary surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau, finishing the night with 18 points in a win over Open Bible College. Senior guard Ryan Milne of Colorado College scored a game-high 27 points during Tuesday's 96-57 loss against at Division I University of Northern Colorado on Tuesday night. Senior guard AJ Myres of Schreiner had 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-6 FT) with 3 assists and a rebound against NCAA II opponent, Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. Senior guard Chase Kocher of Southwestern was the leading scorer on Saturday night, scoring a season high 21 points on 4-6 shooting, 1-1 from three point range and 12-15 from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Robert Watson, Jr. of Texas Lutheran scored 15 points, pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds and recorded his first career double-double while shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Junior guard Matt Hopper of Trinity connected on 6-9 from the field and knocked down both of his three-point attempts to reach 14 points, and also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds. Austin College was idle this past week.
