Dallas' Johnson; Trinity's Lanier and White Named SCAC Women's Soccer Players-of-the-Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - University of Dallas junior forward Nicole Johnson and Trinity University's junior Michelle Lanier and senior defender Jennifer White have been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week for week four of the SCAC Soccer season.

 

 

 



SCAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games of September 16 – September 22

NICOLE JOHNSON OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior forward from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 22.

Johnson led Dallas to two conference wins over the week. On Friday, Johnson tallied two goals against Centenary to seal the win for the Crusaders. On Sunday, Johnson had two assists in the 3-1 triumph over Austin College.

For the season,
Johnson is leading the team with 17 total points, six goals, and five assists. 
 
MICHELLE LANIER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Albuquerque, N.M., has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 22.

Lanier led Trinity to a pair of shutout wins in conference play over the weekend, picking up a total of nine points in the two games.

Lanier had a goal in the first game against Texas Lutheran, and then exploded for two goals and three assists in the win over Schreiner on Sunday. All of her production against Schreiner came in the first half of play - including the eventual game-winner. She scored or assisted on five of the team's seven goals in the first 45 mintues of play.

For the season, Lanier is second on the team with 15 total points, and is also second in both goals (5) and assists (5). Sunday marked her first game-winning goal of the season. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Lauren Scott of Austin College tallied her team-best fourth goal of the season on Sunday against the University of Dallas. Freshman forward/midfielder Sarah Bevins of Southwestern scored the game winning goal against Schreiner. Freshman forward Maegan Idrogo of Texas Lutheran helped her team to split matches this weekend by scoring two goals. Centenary and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for the award.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 16 – September 22


JENNIFER WHITE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Albuquerque, N.M., has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 22.

White led Trinity's defense to two shutout victories in SCAC play, as the Tigers defeated both Texas Lutheran and Schreiner at home.

White had a pair of assists in Friday's win over TLU, and then grabbed her second goal of the year in the win over Schreiner.

For the season, White and Trinity's defense have recorded five consecutive shutouts after allowing one goal in each of the first three games.  She has also scored two goals and three assists on the season.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Brigid Hasson of Dallas had 20 saves and a shutout for the week. Senior midfielder/defender Rebecca Petro of Southwestern started both matches this week and played extremely well for the Pirates, covering a significant amount of ground for Southwestern. Austin College, Centenary, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone for the award.
